For as long as I can remember my son loved to fix and build cars. He started with playsets like the “LeapBuilders Mon Camion 1, 2, 3 Interactif” playset and moved onto learning to repair model cars. No matter the age, there is a sense of accomplishment that comes when something gets repaired.

Buildings blocks like the “Mon Camion 1, 2, 3 Interactif” playset let kids use their imaginations to play. With this playset, your little mechanic can build unique a tow truck, there is no right or wrong way to build it! The possibilities are endless.

The “LeapFrog LeapBuilders Mon Camion 1, 2, 3 Interactif” comes with 31 blocks, 15 Learning blocks and 16 Construction blocks. The pieces include 1 vehicle base, 15 Learning Blocks, 1 Star Cube, 1 4 peg block, 1 half-size double block, 3 double blocks, 4 half circle blocks, 3 beak-shaped blocks, 2 triple blocks and an instruction sheet.

The blocks are rounded on the edges. They are similar to Mega Bloks but not compatible. They are just the right size for little hands to stack and take apart.

The set comes with the “Smart Star Cube” that helps your little one learn numbers, counting and colours all in French.

The learning blocks have a grid in the top which identifies each block as it is inserted into the “Star Cube”. There are two different options to choose from, music and questions.

The “Smart Star Cube” works with other playsets like the “LeapFrog LeapBuilders Jumbo Blocks Set“. There is an on/off/volume control switch on the back of the star cube. You can choose between two volume settings, low and high. The “Smart Star Cube” requires 2 AA batteries to operate.

Little ones can have fun learning to count using the double-sided learning blocks. Unfortunately, because the blocks are double-sided it makes doing simple addition and subtraction difficult. For example, you can do 1+2=3 but because 4 and 9 are on the same block, 5+4 becomes impossible.

The instruction sheet is easy to follow, little mechanics may still require help. The booklet has step-by-step instructions on how to build the tow truck.

The playset does not come with a storage container, but you can stack all the blocks onto the base for storage. The set contains only 31 blocks which means clean-up is easy for little ones, they are not overwhelmed by the number of pieces.

The small amount of blocks also has some drawbacks. When the truck is completed using the instructions there isn’t a large number of blocks available to build anything else.

Overall we are impressed with the quality of the “LeapFrog LeapBuilders Mon Camion 1, 2, 3 Interactif” set and would recommend it as a beginner building block set.
