Disclosure: I received a “Mighty Roar Simba – Disney The Lion King Fur-Real Pet” through the Amazon Vine Program in exchange for my review. All opinions are 100% my own. This post may contain affiliate links.
I recently found a box of my old VHS movies. In the box, we found the original “Lion King” movie. I was surprised to learn that my children have never seen the movie. Over the Christmas holidays, we plan on a Disney movie marathon and watching it with their new friend, “Mighty Roar Simba“.
“Mighty Roar Simba” comes with Simba and his tasty snack, a grub on a leaf.
Simba reacts to touch and sound with a variety of phrases and motions combinations.
Several of the phrases are immediately recognizable from the movie like “Hakuna Matata”. Your little one will have fun finding a variety of ways to interact with this little friend. I was unable to find a complete listing of all his actions.
Simba can move his head, tail, legs, eyes and ears. Pat his head or back to activate his movements. My children were disappointed to discover that Simba can not walk, but he will move his legs bow and stand.
His fur is incredibly soft, I find myself stroking him like a real cat. Unfortunately, he seems to be shedding, especially around his nose. Simba can not be put in the washer and can only be surface cleaned.
His body is hard plastic, not soft like a teddy bear. His tail is stiff and I expect that it will break over time due to its inflexibility.
Feed Simba his grub to hear him smack and belch. I wish he would say “excuse me” instead of “Hakuna Matata” when he burps. I think this is a missed opportunity in teaching little one manners. Each time you feed him, Simba will say a phrase or sound in rotation. Our favourite saying is “Slimy, yet satisfying!”
I like that there is no clean-up required when you feed Simba, his food is a plastic stick and grub. There is no water or dough required. The stick is the perfect size for little hands to grab and use.
“Mighty Roar Simba” takes 4 C cell batteries, that are located in his stomach. There is an on/off switch at the end of the case. There is no volume control.
Simba will put himself in sleep mode after about 90 seconds of inactivity. Wake him up by petting his head or back.
“Mighty Roar Simba” lives up to the high expectations we have of the furReal pets. Featuring the signature big and friendly eyes of furReal pets, this little friend will make his way into your heart.
