Tampax Menstrual Cup – Up To 12 Hours Of Comfort-fit Protection

I have been interested in using re-usable menstrual products for a while. I was clueless about products like the “Tampax Menstrual Cup” but after trying it once, I knew that this is a product I am confident and happy to continue to use!Tampax Cup

What Comes In The Box?

The “Tampax Menstrual Cup” comes with 1 menstrual cup, carrying case and an information booklet.

Features

The “Tampax Menstrual Cup” offers up to 12 hours of protection depending on your flow.  There are two sizes available for purchase: Heavy Flow and Regular Flow.  The cups are made of 100% medical grade silicone and  contain no dyes, perfume, BPA or latex.

The cups are sized according to your flow. After trying both sizes, I feel that even though my flow is heavy at the beginning of my cycle the “Regular Flow Cup” is significantly more comfortable for my body.

The “Tampax Heavy Flow Menstrual Cup” is quite large, measuring approximately 2 inches in diameter.

Large Tampax Cup

The “Tampax Regular Flow Menstrual Cup” is smaller measuring approximately 1.75 inches in diameter.

The rim has a thick ridge the pops open after it is inserted to prevent leaks and hold the cup in place. Inserting the cup takes a bit of practice.  There are different techniques (The C Fold and Punchdown Fold) described in the booklet that comes with your cup.  Experiment with each one to find the technique that works best for you.

Removing the “Tampax Menstrual Cup” takes some practice. The instructions recommend removing the cup in the shower the first few times, as it can be messy until you get used to removing it correctly.

Use a gentle soap and warm water to clean the cup, at the end of your cycle it is recommended that you boil it for a thorough cleaning.  It comes with a blue plastic carrying case for storage when not in use.

What Do I Think?

Both cups are comfortable to use overnight.  While I do find the regular flow more comfortable for daily wear, I do like the heavy flow cup for overnight use.

The cup is easy to use although it can be messy sometimes.  As cleaning is necessary, it is most convenient to change it at home rather than in a public washroom.  Cleaning the cup can be awkward in a public setting.  I would recommend purchasing some cup wipes to aid in cleaning the cup.

Initially I was concerned about leakage, but I quickly discovered that I had nothing to worry about.  I tried my cup during my yoga class and it stayed in place and was very comfortable.

The “Tampax Menstrual Cup” is a comfortable alternative to traditional “period products”.

*Disclosure: I received a complimentary “Tampax Menstrual Cup Heavy Flow” and “Tampax Menstrual Cup Regular Flow” through the Amazon Vine Program in exchange for my review. All opinions are 100% my own.
