The Battat “Critter Catchers” comes with two catcher paddles and a soft critter ball. The frog-shaped paddles are a bright green. I like that one paddle is slightly darker than the other, so each child can ‘claim’ on as their own. The velcro is a bright orange and red.
The straps on the back are adjustable. They fit my son’s hand on the tightest and if I loosen then all the way I can slip my hand in. The paddles are lightweight and the perfect size for little hands.
The critter ball clings to the velcro easily without being too difficult to remove when it’s time to throw again. I love that it is soft, so there are no injuries if someone accidentally gets hit in the head.
The kids had a lot of fun playing with it in the yard. My daughter loved that she didn’t need a glove to play catch with her brother. Eventually, they grew tired of playing catch and created their own scoring system depending on which colour the critter ball lands on.
The “Critter Catchers” are easy to pack and store. I would have liked if they came with a small storage bag but that isn’t difficult to find on my own.
I love the simplicity of this game. It improves hand-eye coordination while having fun!
