Starting Each Inning

The first thing you need to do is decide if you are playing a singles or doubles match. A singles match is when two competitors compete against one another on the same board. A doubles match is when there are four players divided into two teams.

The player who scored the most points in the previous inning tosses first in the next inning. If the players did not score in the previous inning, the player who tossed second in the previous inning tosses first in the next inning.

Each player has 20 seconds to toss the bag from their designated box, and they must use the same hand and box throughout the game. Players who are not tossing must stand 2 feet behind the active player.

Every game is divided into innings, and the players switch boards after each inning in both a singles and doubles match.

The Match Itself

The rules only vary slightly per singles and doubles play, but this is because there are two more players in a doubles match.

During a singles match, both players toss four bags onto the same board. The inning continues until all eight bags have been tossed.

During a doubles match, two players toss four bags onto the same board. Once they toss all eight bags, the other two players toss their four bags onto the opposite board. The inning continues until all four players have tossed their bags.

Scoring Points

Players score one point if the bag lands on the board but does not go through the hole, and they score three points when the bag goes through the hole. If the bag lands outside the board, they do not score any points. The first player or team to score 21 points wins the game.

Cornhole toss is a great game for parties and special events, and you can find official cornhole boards in a variety of colors and designs.
