The Bulldog brand is a UK company who creates skincare products with the tastes of men in mind. They aim for natural products and fair trade, and their products are certified by both Cruelty Free International and the Vegetarian Society. After reading about out their ideology on their website I thought I’d do a quick check on how they scored on the EWG (Environmental Working Group) website, their Age Defense moisutrizer scored a 2 which is good (lower is better).
I don’t tend to use much lotion on my face as it’s not one of my problem areas, usually a couple times a week after trimming/shaping my beard. I’ve started using this a bit more frequently than that, but sparingly. The moisurizer feels good on my skin, absorbs well, and doesn’t leave my skin feeling oily like some others I’ve tried. The lotion does have some fragrance, but not overly powerful or flowery.
I have allergies and dry eyes in general, so I’m a bit sensitive to perfumes. When I apply the moisturizer close to my eyes, they tend to dry out a bit until the lotion is completely absorbed and the fragrance is mostly gone. If I’ve just come out of a hot shower, and the room is still steamy, I don’t seem to notice this as much.
I also have mild eczema on my hands. The end of one finger in particular will dry out to the point where the skin gets hard and then splits apart. Apply bandages for a couple weeks while it heals and softens back up to normal, then start the cycle over again. I’ve noticed that this moisturizer absorbs very well into that area and has slowed the process down a bit. I have other products I’ve been using to slow the process with as well, but they tend to leave much more of an greasy film.
Overall I’m quite happy with the product and plan on continuing using it.
