Would you like to know? Collection

I’ve been taking my children to church since they were born. They’ve been learning about God, Jesus and the Bible for as long as they can remember. The have heard the story of the Nativity and Easter each year, and love to hear them over and over again. The lessons started off simple and now as they are getting older, they are asking more and more questions. The “Would you like to know? Collection” is a great way for my children to explore their faith on their own time.

“Would you like to know? Collection” is a set of six books for children to help build their Christian faith. Each book will encourage your child to explore key concepts of the Christian faith, such as who God is and How to pray in a way that they can understand.

The boxed set contains:
“Would You Like to Know About God?” – This book begins with an introduction to God and continues to answer questions that children have about God like “What does God Look Like?” and “What does God do?”. It ends with the assurance that God loves us and his love will never change.

“Would You Like to Know How to Pray?” – This book explains why we pray and how we can start talking to God. There is a sample prayer at the end the helps guide your child in a simple prayer.

“Would You Like to Know Jesus?” – This books explains who Jesus is, why he is important and how we can come to know him as a friend. It shares a Bible verse that is familiar to many of us, John 3: 16.

“Would You Like to Know the Bible?” – This book tells us what the Bible is, what it consists of and how we should use it.

“Would You Like to Know the Story of Christmas?” –  This book is a simple retelling of the very first Christmas and what it means for us today.

“Would You Like to Know the Story of Easter?” – This is a simple retelling of the Easter story from Jesus entering the city of Jerusalem, dying on the cross and rising again.

The illustrations in each are colourful and remind me of the books I used to read in Sunday School as a child. Each book includes a presentation page which makes it perfect for giving as a gift or an award.

Our least favourite book is the “Would you like to know The Story of Easter? , we found that it wasn’t as clear as it could be.  The book does tell the story of Easter and how Christ rose from the dead, but we found that the last couple of pages could have used a little more detail.  It says “At Easter we remember that Jesus died…and that he is alive forever!” We feel that this brief summary is missing the detail that he rose from the grave.

Our favourite book is “Would you like to know How to Pray?”. Sometimes my children get stuck on where to begin when they start to pray. The sample prayer at the end of the book helps them begin their prayer and then finish using their own words. I love how open ended it is, and listening to how my children talk to God and hear what is on their hearts.

“Would you like to know? Collection” would make a wonderful addition to any child’s library. Matthew 13: 23 says “ But the seed falling on good soil refers to someone who hears the word and understands it. This is the one who produces a crop, yielding a hundred, sixty or thirty times what was sown.” This collection of books helps sew the seeds of God’s word in your child’s heart.

I received a complimentary copy of “Would you like to know? Collection” from Kregel Publishing in exchange for my review. All opinions are 100% my own.
