How do you store your toothbrush? Usually I pop it into a toothbrush holder that is shared with the rest of the family. I don’t think much of it until someone gets sick, then it’s a mad dash to replace everyone’s toothbrush.
“Toothbrush Shield” by Intellident is a breathable and quick drying disposable protective cover for your toothbrush. It protects your toothbrush bristles from airborne and surface bacteria.
Each box comes with 10 disposable covers. The covers are a simple pocket that slides easily over your toothbrush. I used it on both adult and child size toothbrushes and it fits the different heads. Each cover acts as a barrier against bacteria for up to 7 days, for maximum protection replace it every 3-4 days.
A toothbrush stored in a washroom is subject to contamination from various sources. A flushing toilet releases a fine mist of airbourne droplets that can contain e-coli and other harmful bacteria. These droplets settle on surfaces within a six foot radius of the toilet. That just really grosses me out, definitely not something I want on my toothbrush!
I usually store my toothbrush in the toothbrush holder near the bathroom sink. The chances of the toothbrushes coming in contact with other are pretty high. When the kids wash their hands I can only imagine the splashing that happens…how much of that lands on our toothbrushes? The Toothbrush Shield helps protect my toothbrush from all of this and more!
They are simple to use. Just slide onto your toothbrush and you are done. The covers are made from a non-woven, breathable material that wicks away moisture from your brush which allows your toothbrush to dry quickly. They are perfect for travelling, replacing those plastic cases that never seem to allow your toothbrush to dry properly. They take up virtually no space in your bag.
I wish that they came in different colours to help easily identify which cover is yours. We have had a couple of times where the kids were brushing their teeth and the covers were set on the counter and we couldn’t tell which cover belonged to which child.
Intellident also offers a “MouthGuard Shield”. It is made from the same material as the Toothbrush Shield and offers all the same benefits.
I didn’t have a mouth guard to to test these on, but I did have my teeth whitening trays and a biteplate to test them. I was able to put both my top and bottom trays into one shield. They are super convenient.
When I rinse my biteplate off I put it in its case I have to leave it open so that it will dry thoroughly. I’m left with the same chances of contamination that my unprotected toothbrush goes through. With the MouthGuard shield I can set my biteplate on the shelf confident that it will remain clean.
The MouthGuard shield doesn’t offer a hard protection case, if you plan on throwing it into a bag for on the go. They are ideal for mouthguards, nightguards, removable braces, retainers, and whitening trays.
Both of these products are a convenient and simple way to help ensure you have the cleanest toothbrush or mouthguard possible.
