My kids love their tablet time, but they easily get frustrated by the gameplay of many of the apps. The games often fall into one of two camps…The games are too hard and they get frustrated because they can’t play them, or the games are too easy and they get bored and move on to something new.
“Turtle Invaders” by Zyrobotics is a great game for your little ones or yourself. When turtles have decide to take over the underwater Aqua world, the fearless Octermus has fights back! Octoremus must ink the turtles, which magically transports them back to their own lair.
“Turtle Invaders” is great for players of all ages and skill levels. It has a “Space Invaders” feel. My 3 year old is challenged by the game and so am I. You are able to adjust the gameplay to suit your abilities. There are three difficultly levels that you can set, Easy, Medium and Hard. The turtle speed and octopus speed can also be set. You just need to find the settings that work the best for you!
Feel like more of a challenge? Try the number of turtles to ‘Many’ and allow them to shoot back! You can even turn off the music and the backgrounds for those of you who find them distracting. The graphics and music can be graded to make this game suitable for sensory sensitive kids or for kids that are easily distracted, such as children with Autism or attention deficit disorder.
The levels seem unlimited…I have never made it to the end. At first I thought it was a bit mindless, until I discovered that it takes some thought and timing to know exactly when to throw the ink. I love that when you ink the turtles they just disappear in a cluster of stars. The game contains no violence or guns.
The game is totally FREE! There are no distracting ads or in-app purchases. So many ‘Free’ apps have extra things for my kids to click that take them to stores or websites, this was a very pleasant surprise.
Gameplay is easy. Octoremus moves back and forth across the screen. To make him ink the turtles that are swimming across the screen, you simply tap the screen. This interface works for the entry level player to the most advanced. If you are interested in seeing some of the gameplay check out their youTube video:
“Turtle Invaders” is available in both the iTunes store and the Google Play store.
The folks at Zyrobotics have created other games that I can’t wait to explore.
